Nigeria’s corruption machine fights back as cabal donates N21b to battle “Integrity” candidates of Poor Masses

Nigeria’s Cabal have come together to fight the overwhelming popular and prosperity choices of the frustrated, suffering masses as the battle lines for the 2015 electoral contest are drawn, with the ruling PDP party sticking by embattled and corruption defined President Goodluck Jonathan and his vice, Boko Haram links Security Department, SSS investigated Namadi Sambo; and the opposition party, the APC selecting two candidates known for their integrity; former military President, Muhammadu Buhari and former Attorney General of Lagos State, Pastor and Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Since the emergence of Speaker Aminu Tambuwal as the governorship candidate of the APC in Sokoto State, it appears some members PDP are now pitching their tent with the APC, moving forward.

About 3,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isa local government of Sokoto State on Sunday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umar Mohammed Wali, the local government caretaker committee chairman, who disclosed this, stated that the PDP members took the decision to join APC not out of any compulsion but with the conviction that the APC is the expected liberator Nigerians have been longing for.

A former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, says his kinsman, President Goodluck Jonathan, does not deserve a second term. He said this on Sunday while featuring on a Channels TV's "Politics Today".

Sylva, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives' Congress (APC), said the nation's economy was in shambles under Jonathan's watch. He said apart from failing to strengthen the country's currency in the wake of the global oil price slump, the Jonathan-led government had also failed to tackle oil theft.

Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has described the President Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government as “inadequate and visionless.”

The respected legal luminary said it was unfortunate that in spite of the fact that Nigerians had given “so much” to the present administration, they have got nothing in return for their sacrifices.

Reaching out to Nigerians through his Twitter page, Osinbajo stated that General Muhammadu Buhari, is a “strong character” that brings to the table a ray of hope for millions of Nigerians.

According to the Ogun State-born serving pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Nigerians should, as a matter of urgency, join the “common sense revolution” that would alter the status quo come February 2015.

“My fellow citizens, thank you all for your support. I am honoured to serve. Nigeria is great and her citizens give so much, yet get nothing in return from today’s inadequate and visionless leadership.

“When strong character like GMB (Buhari) is leading, it provides inspiration that change is possible and hope is not lost. Join the common sense revolution that GMB leads for a new Nigeria!

“To serve is an urgent task. One all must answer! Are you ready?” he asked in a series of messages.

Governor Amaechi emerges Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Director

I told you guys Governor Rotimi Amaechi will have a big role if General Muhammed Buhari becomes the President in 2015. The deal has kicked off.

The All Progressives Congress has named Governor Amaechi as the Director-General of the party's Presidential Campaign Organization, which will drive the party’s efforts to win the 2015 presidential election.

APC leadership said Amaechi’s outstanding reputation as a man of courage, principle, strength of character, decency and love of country, as well as his administrative prowess and organizational skills combined to fetch him perhaps the most important task in the quest for positive change in Nigeria.

His name has been misspelt by the media for the past 15 years and there is no indication that he has ever tried to correct it. There you have the vice-presidential candidate of the APC: self-effacing and relatively new to the political fray.

New fuel scarcity: TOTAL is holding Nigerians to ransom –SSS

The State Security Services (SSS) has blamed the ongoing nationwide strike embarked upon by members of PENGASSAN on oil giant, TOTAL Nig. Plc., saying that the company reneged on an agreement with the union to recall a woman that was wrongfully sacked.

SSS spokesperson, Ms Marilyn Ogar, while addressing the media in Abuja, urged Nigerians associated with the TOTAL management to compel it to end the suffering they had imposed on Nigerians by keeping their side of the said agreement.

Seizing an overwhelming 40% of the total vote in an informal poll conducted Friday, Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi was the public’s choice for running mate to All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

The poll, conducted by SaharaReporters between Friday, December 12 to Saturday, December 13, garnered a total of 7,951 votes. Of these, 3162 respondents voted for Amaechi. Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, another favorite ahead of the party’s decision, received 2138 votes representing 27% of the votes cast.

Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday expressed optimism that Nigerians will make history through the ballot box in the 2015 general elections.

In a public letter to thank APC delegates for voting for him at last week’s convention in Lagos, he reaffirmed that if voted president, he will not let Nigerians down.
“At the convention, I stood before you as a pensioner, one with no money to offer but my hard labour, my service and commitment,” he stated. “In the exercise of your patriotic duty, you, the delegates and party membership, placed your trust in me. This strike should not be allowed to go on as it will spoil the yuletide season for Nigerians. Oil workers under the aegis of the NUPENG and PENGASSAN are set commence a nationwide strike on Monday to protest the inability of the Federal Government to carry out turnaround maintenance of the nation’s four refineries and reduce pump prices of petrol in line with the slump in global prices of crude oil.

The unions said their members had been fully mobilised, adding that the strike would not be suspended until there was a strong commitment from the government and managements/operators of affected oil companies on the issues.

It is no doubt that the emergence of General Muhammad Buhari as the APC presidential candidate is giving the PDP some stress but the ruling party is hopeful that they will emerge victorious at the end.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed has expressed confidence that the President, Goodluck Jonathan, would once again defeat the former military leader in 2015.

Bala said: “We are not people who encourage people to engage in violence because they want to win elections. We are not going to join issues with anybody who is just a permanent aspirant just for running for the presidency. We have a template, we have a road map.

Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (New PDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has faulted the claim by Presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, that a ticket of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) and Governor Chibuike Amaechi for the 2015 presidential election would be a “fatal error” on the part of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“This is an issue that does not concern Dr Okupe, who is not a stakeholder in APC but the fact remains that if Buhari/Amaechi ticket is a fatal error then Jonathan/Sambo ticket is not only a disaster but an ectopic pregnancy that must be evacuated to save the life of the mother in this case our nation. Anyone who fails an examination is asked to repeat but when the failure is so dismal the person is asked to leave as Nigerians are asking President Jonathan and VP Sambo to leave as they have not only failed woefully but have endangered our nation to the extent that the need of Buhari/Amaechi ticket becomes imperative to save our nation from imminent extinction.

Buhari Wins APC Presidential Primary with 3,430 Votes

It was an interesting battle of friends and members of one big family called the APC. There were surprises here and there, especially with Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso having more votes than Atiku Abubakar, a man who many thought was going to give General Muhammadu Buhari a strong fight.

Obasanjo and His Unending War With His "Godson"

Things have fallen apart between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his political godson, President Goodluck Jonathan. The rift, down-played by both parties, for a large part of two years since 2011, exploded into public domain on December 22, 2013, when Obasanjo sent an open letter to Jonathan.

In the letter titled, ‘Before it is too Late’, and widely reported by the media, Obasanjo alleged among other things, the existence of a killer squad to eliminate opponents by agents of state and endemic corruption.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come down hard on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State for producing controversial former Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesome Ezebunwo Wike, as the party’s flag-bearer for the 2015 gubernatorial election. Rivers APC in a statement issued in Port Harcourt this morning based on the announcement of Wike as the winner of PDP’s gubernatorial primaries dismissed Wike’s candidature as an imposition and the process that led to it as a macabre dance.

The President, Goodluck Jonathan, has cautioned politicians in the country against turning the democratic process into a motor park where touts quarrel indecorously.

“I think we are over defining our democracy today by quarrelling as if democracy is about competitors quarreling just like motor park workers”, Jonathan stated, even as he implored the political class to put Nigerians first by thinking of how to bring development to the people ahead of the 2015 polls.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, had to extract an undertaking from its aspirants ahead of the much talked about presidential congress at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. They have all promised to remain APC members no matter who wins. This is so important because our quick sand politics has latitudes that accommodate tendencies, especially changing camps when we lose positions.

All the contenders came from different groups that pooled their angst with the way Nigeria was running to arrive at APC. The differences tended to stand against the party, particularly when the issue was the presidential candidate.

Some ladies know how to use their assets. Lolz! Anyway, big and beautiful actress Funke Adesiyan has won the ticket for APC’s House of Assembly seat in Oyo State. She defeated other strong contenders to clinch the ticket, thus becoming the second entertainer to win a ticket on APC platform.

Lagos PDP Guber: Agbaje beats Obanikoro + GEJ connection

The decision by President Goodluck Jonathan not to impose anyone as governorship candidate seems to be paying off greatly. If you want to win, go to the people and convince them to vote for you. Simple!

The big example worked well in Lagos as a man who was close to President Jonathan and was seen as a strong contender lost PDP governorship primary to a new comer in the party through the ballot.

About four months after joining the PDP, Jimi Agbaje on Monday emerged as PDP governorship candidate for Lagos State. He defeated a former Minister of State for Defence and Nigeria’s ex-High Commissioner to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro,who was touted as the leading contestant in the primary.

As predicted by political analysts, the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in states across the country were characterised by gunfire, parallel elections, protests and walkouts staged by some of the dissatisfied candidates. But in many states, it was generally peaceful.

In several state, the governorship primaries started late in the day, with many of them lasting well into the night. Serving governors, Ramallan Yero of Kaduna and his Gombe State counterpart Ibrahim Dankwabbo got the PDP ticket to contest for a second term in office.

In the eyes of the law, leave morality out first, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal is the Speaker of the House of Reps and it would remain so until he declares his own seat vacant or through an order of the court.

Unlike the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, who thinks otherwise, the Armed Forces authorities in Nigeria have recognised Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Tambuwal was duly recognised as House of Reps Speaker at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday where President Goodluck Jonathan launched the emblem and the appeal fund for the 2015 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.
