Kudos to these young girls for making us proud! A team of brilliant Nigerians have won gold at Technovation competition 2018 held in Silicon Valley, California.

The Nigerian #TeamSaveASoul comprised of five students of Regina Pacis College, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Iridescent, a nonprofit empowering underrepresented young people globally to become innovators and leaders, announced that two teams of girls – one from India and Nigeria – won top honors at its 2018 Technovation World Pitch Summit, the world’s largest tech entrepreneurship program for girls ages 10-18.

Police have arrested one Victor Umeh who killed his girlfriend, Happiness after he saw her talking to her ex-boyfriend in  the Okota area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect, a married man with five children and trader at Ladipo Market hosted a birthday party for Happiness in a hotel along Ago-Palace Way, Lagos on Saturday, July 29. As the party was going on, Victor saw her conversing with her former boyfriend and left in anger.

FIRS Makes Over N4Trillion For Nigeria In 2017

                          

Looks like more Nigerians are finally getting used to paying their taxes and doing same. The Federal Inland Revenue Service ( FIRS ) said it collected a total of N4.03 trillion in 2017.

This figure represents 82.38% of government set target of N4.89 trillion for the last year.

A statement signed by Wahab Gbadamosi, Head, Communications and Servicom Department of the Service said “FIRS’ collection of N4.03 trillion is N720 billion (22%) more than the 2016 total collection figure of N3.305 trillion. The 2017 collection performance exceeded the 2016 collection performance of 78.75%.”

Commissioner changes story of young man who lost his father as a toddler

 

*To Open Provision Store For HimIt was an emotional moment earlier on Monday when the Commissioner for Works, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, changed the story of one Michael Jacob Etim.

The 23-year-old Michael, a native of Obotim in Nsit Ibom LGA, told the Commissioner that he lost his father when he was still a toddler.

He was one of the spectators during the demolition exercise of paid structures on Uyo-Etinan road.

On how the Commissioner spotted the 23 year old, he said he noticed "a very young boy on a bike and decided to approach him".

Fayose Drops Bombshell: PDP Chairman Mu’azu met Tinubu

 

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has claimed the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, was not totally committed to the party during the elections, claiming that Mu’azu even had a secret meeting with APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

In his words, “Shortly before my election, he (Mu’azu) was to see me and I waited for him in his house for about five hours and then he came out to say he was sorry and that we should give him space. He said the Yoruba people should give him some space because he was expecting someone who did not want to see any Yoruba man.

FRSC sensitises motorists over speed limiting device

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has set June 1, 2015, as deadline for the introduction of motorists speed limiting device in the country starting from commercial vehicle operators.
This is as the Lagos State Government revealed that the return of commercial motorcyclists to highways in the state has led to 34 per cent increase in road mishaps between January and April this year.

PDP Chairman Mu’azu Falls Out With Governor Fayose

 

The National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose took to their Twitter handles on Thursday to tackle each other over the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election.

Their action came less than three days after President Goodluck Jonathan called on the PDP leaders to stop the blame game over his loss to Muhammadu Buhari and rather reposition the party ahead of 2019.

Jonathan Meets Buhari In Secret Again

 

Goodluck Jonathan has again met behind closed doors with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting was held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It is the third time he would be meeting Buhari after INEC declared him winner of the presidential poll. The meeting, which held at night, just like the first one they had on a public holiday (Good Friday), was described as “private” and so it was not open to journalists.
